At WestMass ElderCare, we understand the importance of proper nutrition and its impact on the health and well-being of older adults and individuals with disabilities and chronic conditions. Whether you’re an older adult aged 60 and above or a person with disabilities under the age of 60, we are here to support your nutritional needs and help you lead a healthy and fulfilling life.
Our program offers a range of services to cater to your specific needs. If you require regular meals, our Meals on Wheels program can deliver lunch, dinner, or weekend meals on a daily or as-needed basis. Our dedicated team also provides a friendly check-in and daily safety check for those who receive home-delivered meals, ensuring that you receive not only nourishment but also companionship and peace of mind.
WMEC prioritizes personalized care, which is why we offer one-on-one nutrition counseling with our Registered Dietitian. Our dietitian will work with you to develop a customized nutrition plan that meets your dietary requirements and supports your overall health.
We understand that certain medical conditions may require specialized diets. That’s why we provide a range of medically tailored options, such as Cardiac and Renal meals. Additionally, we offer pureed and ground meals to cater to individuals with chewing and swallowing difficulties. These therapeutic meals are available with a doctor’s order.
Our nutrition program extends beyond meal delivery. We are proud to offer WMEC Community Table Programs where freshly-prepared, wholesome, and nutrient-dense meals are served in senior centers, housing complexes, and other convenient locations throughout our communities. This not only ensures that you receive a delicious meal but also provides an opportunity for social interaction and good company.
For those who enjoy authentic Latino cuisine, we offer authentic Latino home-delivered meals, and proudly partner with Taino Restaurant in Holyoke to offer a new senior dining program. Through this program, you can savor traditional Latino dishes for lunch from Monday to Friday. From yuca with garlic and onions to pulled pork, yellow rice with pigeon peas, and beef stew, our menu offers a variety of mouthwatering options. We suggest a voluntary, confidential donation of $2.50 per meal for program participants. You just need to register with our nutrition department to participate.
Did you know that our nutrition program serves people of all ages? Last year alone, we delivered over 30,000 meals to 237 consumers under the age of 60. We take pride in our dedicated Home-Delivered Meals Drivers, who not only provide essential wellness checks but also act promptly if they notice any concerning changes in your physical or mental health. In fact, 80% of meal recipients feel less lonely because of their meal drivers.
We believe in holistic well-being, which is why we strive to enhance your independence and overall quality of life. Our consumers have reported numerous benefits from receiving our meals, such as feeling better, living independently, and combating loneliness.
Your safety and satisfaction are our top priorities. In the event of winter weather or other emergencies that may disrupt daily meal delivery, we have shelf-stable meals available to ensure you don’t go without proper nutrition.
Variety is key to a satisfying meal experience, and we offer a wide selection of delicious, freshly-prepared meals. Our menus are carefully crafted in collaboration with our catering partner, incorporating seasonal ingredients and catering to various dietary preferences and medical needs. Whether you prefer Latino cuisine, no-salt-added meals, renal-friendly options, pureed meals, cardiac diet choices, or ground meals, we have something for everyone.
As your needs evolve, our program serves as a gateway to other valuable services. Our Drivers, Geriatric Support Service Coordinators, and Care Managers can make referrals for additional WMEC services, such as home-making assistance and personal care.
At WMEC, we are committed to promoting your overall well-being and independence through our comprehensive nutrition program. Whether you require regular meal deliveries, specialized diets, nutrition counseling, or the opportunity to enjoy a delicious meal in a community setting, we are here to help. Our dedicated team of professionals is ready to support you on your journey to optimal health and happiness.
