Health Insurance Counseling

WMEC provides free health insurance counseling by a certified SHINE (Serving the Health Insurance Needs of Everyone) counselor.  Our SHINE counselors can answer your questions about Medicare and also help you make decisions about your benefits.  

We Can Help:

• Provide an understanding of Medicare options, including Medicare parts A & B, Medicare Advantage Plans (Part C), Medicare Prescription Drug Plans and Coverage (Part D) and Medicare Supplement Plans (Medigap).
• Review eligibility for Public Assistance programs such as Prescription Advantage, Extra Help from Social Security, and MassHealth.
• Find ways you can save money on your prescription drugs and health insurance
• Help you apply for programs that will lower your costs
• Select the Medicare prescription drug plan that covers your medications

• Massachusetts residents with Medicare.
• Those approaching Medicare eligibility.
• Caregivers of Medicare-eligible individuals.
• Massachusetts residents with MassHealth 
• Massachusetts residents who are nursing facility eligible and wish to remain in the community through the MassHealth “Frail Elder Waiver”
