Established in 1963, Older Americans Month (OAM) is celebrated every May. Led by the federal Administration for Community Living (ACL), OAM is a time for us to acknowledge the contributions and achievements of older Americans, highlight important trends, and strengthen our commitment to honoring our older adults.

This year’s theme, Aging Unbound, offers an opportunity to explore a wide range of aging experiences and to promote the importance of enjoying independence and fulfillment by paving our own paths as we age.  “Older adults are vital to our communities in so many ways,” said Roseann Martoccia, WMEC Executive Director.  “Whether you are working, volunteering, caring for a loved one, helping with grandchildren or playing pickle ball with friends, we thank you for all you do for others.  Stay active, do the things you love and enjoy your time.”

The simple fact is, we are all aging, every single day, so why not embrace it?  Be thankful for another day, another year, another decade.  Don’t just age – age unbound!
