About Us

Care. Dignity. Independence.

Meet WestMass ElderCare

We help older adults and persons with disabilities live healthy, happy, and independent lives at home. We’re on a mission to promote dignity and respect for the elders in our region. We care.

Together we can help you or your loved ones make the most of every day.

WestMass ElderCare (WMEC) is a private, non-profit agency located in Holyoke, MA. Since 1974, we have served the community by providing information, resources, and long-term care services to older adults and people with disabilities so they can remain comfortable in their homes and communities. We also offer support to families and caregivers who are caring for their loved ones. We pride ourselves on providing a full range of valuable information and services to community members in need.

We offer many programs like home care, home delivered meals and other services not limited to MassHealth members. If you need help with household tasks or your daily activities, contact us to learn about your options regardless of your insurance or income.

WestMass ElderCare (WMEC) is designated by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs (EOEA) as an Aging Services Access Point and an Area Agency on Aging, and contracts with EOEA for a number of programs.

WMEC has a strong network of relationships with local and statewide organizations working to assist older adults and persons with disabilities to maintain independence at home and to support caregivers. WMEC contracts with more than 40 provider agencies for services such as personal care, homemaking, home health aide, medication dispensing devices, transportation, chore service, adult day health, and personal emergency response devices.

In addition, WMEC contracts with MassHealth to offer Adult Family Care and Personal Care Management. WMEC also partners with Senior Care Options, One Care, and PACE Programs to provide long term support services. Contracts are held with Commonwealth Care Alliance, United Healthcare, Fallon Navicare, Tufts, Senior WholeHealth and BMC Health Net Plan.

WestMass ElderCare engages community volunteers to serve on its Board of Directors, Citizens Advisory Council and Money Management Advisory Council. These groups plan and advise on issues affecting older adults and persons with disabilities in our region by guiding the work of WestMass ElderCare.
