Congregate Housing is a housing option for elders and persons with disabilities. While there is not 24-hour staffing, supportive services are available as needed to provide assistance with activities of daily living. Often, Congregate Housing is the answer for someone who is unable or unwilling to live alone, but does not need the full time care of a nursing or rest home. The Congregate Housing Program is funded by the Executive Office of Communities and Development and the Executive Office of Elder Affairs, and is a joint project of the local Housing Authoritites and WestMass ElderCare.
The Holyoke Raymond P. Murphy Congregate Housing is a residential, shared living arrangement for 20 individuals. It is a housing option which fosters independence, provides supportive services, allows privacy and encourages companionship.
To be eligible for Congregate Housing, an individual must be:

Both housing types combine housing with services for older adults and people with disabilities. However, in Supportive Housing, you have a full, private apartment. In Congregate Housing, you have your a private bedroom with a kitchenette and private half bath, but share full shower bathroom and living room, dining room, kitchen, library, crafts room, and laundry spaces.
Many factors go into your eligibility, including age, income, medical expenses, and property choice.
